Consumer confidence remains elevated: Morning Consult’s Index of Consumer Sentiment (ICS) stands at 99.8, virtually unchanged over the past week but up 6 points since May 1.
High-income earners are more confident than at any point since the pandemic: Over the past week, the ICS among high-income earners has hovered around 118 - 120, reaching highs not seen since March 2020.
But sentiment isn't rebounding with low-income earners: The ICS among U.S. adults earning under $50k has risen by just 2.3 points since May 1, compared to rising 8.8 points among those earning $50-100k and 11.3 points among those earning over $100k.

In order to gauge consumer sentiment, Morning Consult asks five questions relating to personal finances and business conditions in the country as a whole. The results from those five questions are then inputted into Index of Consumer Sentiment (ICS).
